Strategies to Mitigate Cheating in Online Courses

From the article, Cheating In Online Courses: The Student Definition (Raines et al., 2011), the authors state that “across all the definitions [of cheating, supplied by the students] was recognition of the unique characteristics of online learning and that there are differences between the expectations in an online and classroom based course” (p. 86). They suggest that “students look to faculty to set the boundaries of acceptable learning behaviors” and that faculty must outline their expectations clearly.
