Opening Remarks: Jennifer Troyer
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Dr. Jennifer Troyer is the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Dr. Troyer is also Professor of Economics in the Belk College of Business. Since joining the University over 20 years ago, Dr. Troyer has served as Dean of the Belk College, Chair of the Department of Economics, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs, the Interim Dean of the College of Health and Human Services, and Interim Dean of the Belk College of Business. As a Professor, she has taught numerous courses in health economics and econometrics, and she has conducted policy-relevant research on the quality of U.S. nursing homes, the cost-effectiveness of medical interventions, and strategic behavior in the pharmaceutical industry. Her research has earned several awards and been funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Featured Plenary: Mike Carlin
Vice Chancellor for OneIT; CIO; Chief University Innovation and Process Officer
Dr. Mike Carlin joined UNC Charlotte as Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO) in 2013, leading a remarkable team of people tasked with operating and enhancing the University’s IT environment. He is responsible for IT strategic planning as well as operations, budgeting, policy development, and overall vision. He has worked in the higher education IT community for over 25 years with a wide range of professional interests, including cloud computing, federated identity management, and policy development.

Keynote: David Wiley
Chief Academic Officer of Lumen Learning
Dr. David Wiley is the Chief Academic Officer of Lumen Learning. His work and research happen at the intersection of instructional design, open educational resources, generative AI, entrepreneurship, continuous improvement, and professional development. He is Dean of the Governor’s School for Entrepreneurship and Director of The Brad D. Smith Student Incubator at Marshall University, and adjunct faculty in Brigham Young University’s graduate program in Instructional Psychology and Technology (where he was previously an Associate Professor). Dr. Wiley holds a PhD in Instructional Psychology and Technology from Brigham Young University and a BFA in Music from Marshall University.
